Yakima, WA
Longview Fibre's Yakima, Washington, Container Plant is considered on of the largest corrugated box-manufacturing plants in the country. It opened in 1969 primarily to serve the region's apple and potato industry. The facility has been expanded three times, more than doubling the original size. The building today includes 100,000 square feet of inside warehouse space for just-in-time delivery of finished goods packaging to customers in central and eastern Washington, northern Oregon, and British Columbia.
Yakima's customer focus is primarily food related. About half of the packaging manufactured is for fresh agricultural products including: apples, pears, cherries, peaches, potatoes and onions. The other half is for processed food products: processed potatoes (French fries), frozen vegetables and juices. Products packaged in boxes manufactured by Longview Fibre's Yakima Plant are shipped domestically and internationally, supplying the world with food products from Washington, Oregon and British Columbia. In addition to transporting end products safely to their destinations, corrugated packaging manufactured in Yakima also helps sell the products through attractive display graphics.
By utilizing state-of-the-art equipment and material-handling processes, the plant is capable of operating 24-hours a day with approximately 160 full-time employees.
Customers within Yakima's marketing region also purchase packaging from multiple other Longview Fibre facilities like: Longview and Seattle in Washington, Twin Falls, Idaho; and Spanish Fork, Utah for product lines not manufactured in Yakima. These products include both Triplewall and Laminated bulk bins, solid-fiber products, and Singleface laminated products requiring extremely high graphics.
